Capturing Your People, Right Now
Family photos aren't about everyone looking perfect at the same time (because let's be real, that's nearly impossible and also kind of boring). They're about capturing the real moments the laughter, the connection, the way you all fit together as a unit.
These are the photos you'll look back on in 20 years and remember exactly how it felt to be together in this moment. Your kids will treasure these images of their family. You'll show them to your grandkids someday and remember who you all were right now.
This is about capturing your people, as they are, doing what you do together.
What to Wear
The key to beautiful family photos is everyone wearing something that feels authentic to your family's vibe.
Style Options
Coordinated but Not Matching Everyone in a similar colour palette (all earth tones, all pastels, all neutrals) but different styles. Mum in a dress, dad in a shirt, kids in their favourite outfits all feeling cohesive without being matchy-matchy.
Your Everyday Aesthetic If your family is casual and comfy, wear casual and comfy. If you're more put-together, be put-together. The key is that it feels like you.
Mix of Casual & Slightly Dressed Up Some family members casual, some a bit more dressed up it works and looks beautiful as long as everyone's comfortable.
Completely Casual Jeans and t-shirts, favourite outfits, whatever feels easy and comfortable. Authenticity always wins over perfection.
Color Palette Guide
Warm, Earthy Tones Terracotta, rust, warm cream, soft gold, dusty rose, olive, sage - calming, beautiful, and absolutely gorgeous in natural light.
Soft Neutrals White, cream, beige, grey, soft black - timeless, elegant, and let your family be the focus.
Denim & Basics Blue jeans with white or neutral tees = classic, timeless, always works.
Soft Pastels Blush, sage, soft blue, lavender - gentle and beautiful, especially in golden hour light.
Avoid:

Frequently Asked Questions
What if the kids won't cooperate? Perfect. That's real family life. We capture it all the cooperation, the silliness, the meltdowns, the resistance. Those "uncooperative" moments often become the most treasured photos because they're absolutely authentic.
What if we're all a bit of a mess on the day? Even better. The photos where you're not all perfectly put together? Those are the ones you'll love most. They feel real. They feel like your family.
Can we do this at our house? Absolutely. Some families feel most comfortable at home, and home photos are beautiful. We can do it in your backyard, your living room, wherever feels right.
What if one kid is having a terrible day? We work with it. Sometimes the most real, beautiful family moments happen when a kid is being grumpy or emotional. And sometimes we just take breaks, reset, and try again. Either way, it all works out beautifully.
Can we include pets, grandparents, or extended family? Absolutely! Just let me know so we can plan for it. Pets are always a joy, and multi-generational family photos are absolutely stunning. Extended family sessions do go for longer and have a different price point.
What if I'm nervous about being in photos? So many people feel this way, and I get it. But here's the thing: your kids want photos of YOU. Not perfect you the real you. And someday you're going to be so grateful that you showed up and let yourself be captured in this moment.
